The Qualaxia Network website does not place cookies on user hard drives. However, a session cookie must be added to the read-write memory in view of facilitating navigation in the PHP pages of the site.

This cookie is automatically deleted when users exit the site.

Upon access to the qualaxia.org site, your computer and the Qualaxia Network website server exchange information automatically. This exchange does not provide any of your personal information (e.g.: name, telephone, address, nature of the query) without your intervention.

Information exchanged includes:

• domain names (e.g.: xcompany.com, if you are using a private Internet account, university.edu, if you have access through a university account, etc.)
• IP address (e.g.: 123.45.67.890) that could allow an Internet provider to divulge the identity of the person to which it is registered
• browser type (e.g.: Netscape, Explorer) and operating system (e.g.: Windows, Mac OS) in use
• pages visited
• date and time pages are accessed
• address of the referrer site from which the portal was reached

The Qualaxia Network website collects this data due to technological requirements inherent to Internet browsing. The server needs this information to transmit files that are compatible with user computer equipment. Rest assured that in no way do these requirements permit your identity to be revealed.

Qualaxia Network collects and uses this information solely for statistical purposes including: the number of visits, pages most visited, the technology used by visitors, referrer sites and the country of origin of visitors. Under no circumstances is this data used to create user lists.

The portal will not collect any personal information without obtaining the visitor’s consent. It conforms to the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information.

You will not normally be asked to provide personal information, except when submitting a membership application and information request. In such cases, measures have been taken to secure the website.

We remind you that the transmission of information via email is not secure, therefore we strongly advise against providing personal information, such as a social security number, via email. By the same token, we will not answer any questions requiring the transfer of personal information by email.

Emails are treated with the same confidentiality as information received by mail. If you transmit personal information via email, either by filling out a non-secure online form or subscribing to a mailing list, we will conclude that you have provided consent.

In such a case, rest assured that:

• the Qualaxia Network will only use this information to process and further your request
• under no circumstances will the information transmitted be used to create user profiles
• the portal will transmit this information to another organization only if it is the object of your request or if that communication is required by law

The Qualaxia Network website provides certain members with a secure work area, accessible only with a username and password.

For maximum security it is recommended to:

• use the latest version of your browser
• erase the cache memory of your computer once your data has been transmitted
• keep your personal information, username and password confidential (the Qualaxia Network cannot in any case be held responsible for an unauthorized usage of these items. Should their confidentiality be compromised, please advise us immediately to avoid fraudulent use of your identity).

IP Address

A unique numerical address made up of four numbers separated by dots that identifies the computer connected to the Internet and its location.

Domain Name

Part of an Internet name that identifies the website of an organization.

PHP Page

HTML page containing one or several scripts that are executed dynamically on the Web server before the page is sent to the browser, i.e. to the user.

Cookie

Element of information transmitted by the server to the browser when the user visits the website and that can be picked up by the server during subsequent visits.

Session Cookie

Cookie stored in the user computer’s memory by the browser that only retains data produced at the start of the session and that remains active only while the user’s browser is open.

Persistent Cookie

Cookie stored in a user's computer file by the browser and that can be picked up by the website server during subsequent visits.
